“I bet you haven’t slept as well in a long time….”
That’s what I thought. Georgia Tech has deprived me of good, stress-free sleep for the past four years, 12 semesters straight. The only times I’ve woken up feeling well-rested and energized were when I stumbled home drunk the night before. Now that I’ve graduated, you’d think that I’d be able to sleep well at night. The truth is I barely sleep because the stress isn’t gone. I feel like I’m struggling to move on to the next stage in my life. Somehow, I’ve reverted back to the summer breaks in grade school. Wake up, eat breakfast, read, watch tv, eat, stay up late, sleep, do it over again. It sounds awesome but it gets old fast. Everything feels old. I’ve lost my appetite. I find myself unable to sit still through a movie. My interest in trashy books and magazines gone. I’m sick of looping my music. I can’t bring myself to go back to my old ways of staying up all night and flirting shamelessly. All the hearts and minds I’ve broken because I was bored and had nothing better to do. I want something new.
